The places we inhabit

My research agenda is rooted in a framework of care and caring as fundamental (political) activity of maintenance and repair in our world. Empirically, I am interested in how care is achieved in situ, in and with place, and in the context of promissory discourses of placeless care as produced by digitalization. Through this prism of care and place, I am deeply concerned with how digitalization affects core human activities and values.

I work on projects on Virtual Reality, Sensory Reality, digital sedation and digital nature - which I analyze under the umbrella of “post-place care”.

Methodology

I am a qualitative researcher with an affinity for (visual) ethnography and theory building, particularly in the context of place and space in the digital era. I work on developing alternative research and arts-based methods, such as participatory filmmaking, photo essays and sound-scaping.

My strongest ability lies in writing with attention to detail and empathy for others. My goal is to combine this ability with research projects that make the world better and richer.

As a migrant myself, I am acutely aware of the need for translation – not only language, but also cultures, ideas, domains, and futures. My background in Science and Technology Studies has fostered in me an ability and enthusiasm for translation work, employing and critically assessing knowledge practices and a perspective of the world as an ecology.
