Current Projects

I. Digital Care Healing Architectures

In this project I draw together discussions on healing architecture (Evidence-Based Design), care in place, and the digitalization of healthcare. I suggest that we need to understand VR practices (such as digital sedation) as healing digital architectures.

II. Re-placing care: the techno-geographies of the everyday urban

ESRC grant development in collaboration with University of York, University of Cork & The Danish center for social science research

In this three-countries collaborative project, we employ creative participatory methods, in order to understand the relationship between mundane technologies and ecologies of distress in the urban. We are particularly interested in how neurodiverse people navigate ecologies of distress in the city with the help of technology.

III. Digital Nature?

In this project I investigate the idea and application of “nature” in VR for patient care. Conceptually, I develop the notion of digital nature as a particular understanding and production of the natural - safe, tame, and accessible. I also address the tensions between digital and real nature.

IV. Immersive Imaginaries within digital architectures

In this project I collaborate with a Danish colleague from the ITU and a VR company and focus on understanding how the idea of immersion displaces care practices to a digital realm of care, and with what consequences.
